Not Surprised

Why am I not surprised
by all the things we said we'd do
all the times I've waited
only to be left behind

maybe I'm just being hopeful
as foolish as that may be
all the things I've hoped for
always have been delayed

I am no longer surprised
by the sorries that I hear
I am not surprised
when I hear somethings in the way

I have patience that seems to last
but my hope is fading fast
No longer surprising
that I have to wait yet another day

I will keep my horizons open
and maybe it will one day come
and when it does I will be more
surprised by the day it happens
then the days that it won't
